Each January in Wanaka, numerous people with swan plants get to watch any monarch butterfly caterpillars feeding and growing daily.
Eventually the survivors turn into a chrysalis and the wait is on for the majestic monarch butterfly to hatch.

Who would have thought we would wake up to snow-capped mountains this summer morning at Lake Wanaka?
Not that we need reminding what a wonderful, beautiful place it is to live!
No wonder it has been nominated one of the top ten destinations on the planet to visit this 2012 according to Lonely Planet (read more about this here).
