Shana and Mark held their beautiful rustic wedding on an autumn day at Criffel Station Woolshed, Wanaka.
Vivien & Alan enjoyed a magical autumn day for their pre-wedding photo session in historic Arrowtown.
I'm absolutely delighted that I won two awards in the NZIPP Iris Awards 2016 last month in Wellington.
These were a Silver award for the Illustrative category for ‘Ophelia’ and Bronze award for the Portrait Classic category for ‘Runaway Bride’.
This was the first time I’ve entered prints and also watched the judging live. An extremely nerve-wracking but immensely valuable experience!
My other three images were in Wedding Classic and were all awarded Professional Standard, which I’m pretty pleased with.
Both of my two award-winning images are from styled shoots done in collaboration with other Wanaka individuals. There are so many talented people here that doing such shoots keeps me creative, allows me to input fresh ideas into my professional practice and also tell stories. Tracey Morrow (Flowers / styling - Crimson Flowers) and Deirdre Read (Hair / Make-up - Road to Beauty) were involved with both shoots. Ashleigh McLean was our Ophelia and Pri Shartener was our Runaway Bride.
About the awards:
The annual Iris Awards is New Zealand's only professional photography print competition and organised by NZIPP (New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography).
The Awards attract hundreds of entries from around the country and overseas each year. There are 12 categories judged over 3 days including Wedding Classic, Portrait Classic, Illustrative, Travel, Landscape and Commercial.
The best of the images are given Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards.
See more of this year’s winning entries at the NZIPP Iris Award website here.
Hayley and Sam’s beautiful summer wedding is vivid in my heart & mind and one I’d been looking forwards to for months beforehand.
I first met Hayley and Sam when I captured Sam’s family portrait back in autumn 2014. I loved the relaxed & fun photo session and hanging out with the family for the afternoon. When Hayley got in touch a few months later to say her and Sam were engaged I was absolutely delighted!
When the big day came it was a perfect summers day. The boys got ready at Sam’s family home in Lake Hawea whilst the girls were all at The Lookout Lodge. After their mid-afternoon ceremony and congratulations we were lucky enough to visit a neighbour’s house to access some stunning location spots overlooking my favourite Mount Gold. We then headed to Lake Hawea by vintage cars for Hayley & Sam to enjoy a bit of quiet time to themselves.
I loved every minutes I spent with Hayley, Sam and all their guests.. I truly felt like part of the family throughout the day.
Emily & Chris had a very magical intimate wedding on a hot summer afternoon. With just their immediate family in attendance, Lake Hawea was just divine for their beautiful ceremony. Super special was Emily's Nan being her Maid of Honour. 11 people then flew up to Coromandel Peak to continue the celebrations with world class views.
Back at Limetree Lodge the guests were entertained by Anna & I and fed exceeding well by Raspberry Creek for the rest of the day. Highlights of the rest of the afternoon was Emily & Chris' impromptu 'shake out' dance and the magnificent Harry Potter cake by Cakes of Wanaka.
Thank you again Emily & Chris for inviting me to capture and be part of your gorgeous wedding. Thanks also the fabulous team behind the day:

Back on November I was involved in the most fabulous styled wedding photo shoot at the amazing The Homestead and Woolshed on Racecourse as the 'Behind the scenes' photographer. The latest issue of NZ Bride & Groom magazine – Issue 88, page 141 - has featured it and now its time to share it! Here are some of my favourite photos I've taken from the shoot..
Everything about the shoot – the venue, the flowers, hair & makeup, dress, catering to name but a few – was outstanding and the uber talented team of Central Otago vendors really put everything into making this wedding shoot the best.

Pascale and Paul were married just before Christmas at Nook Valley Grandeur, Lake Hawea.
Though both live in Australia, Pascale had grown up next to The Nook nursery so it was the perfect location for their gorgeous wedding. Both Pascale & Paul loved the outdoors too so landscape & backdrop were a really important feature for their day.
After their gorgeous ceremony in an orchard garden we ventured to Lake Hawea for our location photos, absolutely stunning on a perfect summer’s day before returning to The Nook for a wonderful evening of celebrating.
Taken at Lake Wanaka - Maddie & Michael came to Wanaka earlier in December for a pre-wedding photo shoot before their wedding in Hong Kong next year. What a delightful, fun and relaxed couple! We had a great afternoon checking out a couple of heli-locations first and then exploring around Lake Wanaka for a few more amazing spots.
Thanks to Tracey at Crimson - Wedding Flowers by Tracey Morrow for Maddie's bouquet and Wanaka Helicopters for air transport. Photography by Ruth Fluidphoto.
Deliciously atmospheric… ruggedly romantic. A Celtic Wedding themed photo shoot by ‘Loch Wanaka’…
This fabulous styled photo shoot was created by the uber talented Deirdre from Road To Beauty - Makeup, Hair, Beauty ,Tracey from Crimson - Wedding Flowers by Tracey Morrow , myself Ruth from Fluidphoto along with our super model talent Angelina and Craig.
Renee & Andrew (aka Lanky!) had the most beautiful Spring wedding at Edgewater in Wanaka. Renee had always loved Wanaka for its amazing scenery and laid-back vibes and with the added bonus of snow for their location photos it was the perfect destination.
Their wedding had so many personal touches it made the day beautiful, touching and altogether fun. Andrew’s love of Hawaiian shirts combined perfectly with Renee’s love of blue & creating things from scratch, such as all the bridal bouquets. Their handwritten vows meant that there wasn’t a dry eye during their ceremony.
The wedding day itself proved too windy to fly to the Isobel Glacier so we took the location photos up there a couple of days later. It was totally worth the wait as I think you’ll agree from the images below!
Renee & Andrew, I wish you both a lifetime of love, happiness and laughter. Thank you again for trusting me to capture your perfect day.

Rachel & Mel had the most stunning sunny day in Hawea for their wedding.
The sparkly ladies had a touching first look followed by a visit to some special spots in the area for location photos.
Their beautiful ceremony was held overlooking Lake Hawea with family and close friends and included a special ring blessing.
Rachel and Mel, it was such a pleasure to share your wedding day.. wishing you both a long and happy lifetime of love.
Thanks to all the talented team involved:
Anna & Tim had an amazing wedding in my favourite place in the whole of New Zealand - The Catlins. Epic views, ancient forest & tree line avenues, dramatic weather, rustic hay bales & old barns, vintage cars, a river for a spot of fishing - this wedding had it all and I loved every bit of it. Anna & Tim were a joy to spend time with and this combined with their easy-going guests meant that a rainy afternoon just added more to our location photos. Here are a handful of favourite images from their wedding day...
Thanks to all the talented crew involved:

Who doesn't love a bit of snow?! Combine this with your wedding day and you have location photos that are look epic whilst having lots of fun! Mary & Thomas came over from eastern Australia for their intimate wedding in Queenstown and were delighted at the chance to get in the snow.
Thanks to Heliworks Queenstown Helicopters for getting us to our photo spot.
It was certainly a dramatic day weather-wise for Rachel & Chris’ windy wedding! Looming storm clouds were on the agenda but nothing at all phased this gorgeous laid back couple with their special day.
Their touching ceremony at Edgewater Resort was followed by location photos at Glendhu Bay with the dramatic weather adding to the atmosphere.
Their reception back at Edgewater Resort was filled with laughter and emotion with the speeches followed by The Shoe Game - utterly hilarious!
Everyone was raring to party after the First Dance and I was sad to leave the wedding group at the end of the night.
Rachel and Chris, I loved sharing your wedding day with you and I wish you both a lifetime of love and happiness.
