Dramatic clouds combined with the epic landscape plus a gorgeous couple made me a very happy photographer for Rie & Mischa’s post-wedding shoot.
Vivien & Alan enjoyed a magical autumn day for their pre-wedding photo session in historic Arrowtown.
I'm absolutely delighted that I won two awards in the NZIPP Iris Awards 2016 last month in Wellington.
These were a Silver award for the Illustrative category for ‘Ophelia’ and Bronze award for the Portrait Classic category for ‘Runaway Bride’.
This was the first time I’ve entered prints and also watched the judging live. An extremely nerve-wracking but immensely valuable experience!
My other three images were in Wedding Classic and were all awarded Professional Standard, which I’m pretty pleased with.
Both of my two award-winning images are from styled shoots done in collaboration with other Wanaka individuals. There are so many talented people here that doing such shoots keeps me creative, allows me to input fresh ideas into my professional practice and also tell stories. Tracey Morrow (Flowers / styling - Crimson Flowers) and Deirdre Read (Hair / Make-up - Road to Beauty) were involved with both shoots. Ashleigh McLean was our Ophelia and Pri Shartener was our Runaway Bride.
About the awards:

Hayley and Sam’s beautiful summer wedding is vivid in my heart & mind and one I’d been looking forwards to for months beforehand.
I first met Hayley and Sam when I captured Sam’s family portrait back in autumn 2014. I loved the relaxed & fun photo session and hanging out with the family for the afternoon. When Hayley got in touch a few months later to say her and Sam were engaged I was absolutely delighted!
When the big day came it was a perfect summers day. The boys got ready at Sam’s family home in Lake Hawea whilst the girls were all at The Lookout Lodge. After their mid-afternoon ceremony and congratulations we were lucky enough to visit a neighbour’s house to access some stunning location spots overlooking my favourite Mount Gold. We then headed to Lake Hawea by vintage cars for Hayley & Sam to enjoy a bit of quiet time to themselves.
I loved every minutes I spent with Hayley, Sam and all their guests.. I truly felt like part of the family throughout the day.
