How To Make Planning Your New Zealand Wedding as Easy as Possible

Planning a wedding is a lot of work - I should know, I’ve been a Wanaka wedding photographer for years now! I’m very familiar with all the in’s and out’s of what goes into prepping for your big day.

There’s a lot you can do to make it easier on yourself, but one thing I rarely see couples do is consider having a winter wedding.

I know this is a little outside of the ordinary, but stick with me here!

There’s a ton of reasons why having a winter wedding is not only awesome, but can also make your wedding much easier to plan.

Take a look below and let me know what you think!

1. You Have First Dibs on Vendors!

Most wedding vendors book up quickly during the busiest part of wedding season.

However, they generally have numerous dates open during the winter months since those dates aren’t picked as often.

As such, you’ll have way less competition with other couples for halls, photographers, caterers, etc.

You’ll basically have your pick of the litter for just about everything related to your wedding.

2. No humidity.

There’s very few things more uncomfortable than formalwear in the heat and humidity!

Yourself and your guests will be much more comfortable without having to deal with the heat in the summer.

Plus, your makeup and hair will stay in tact better (and less frizzy) if you’re not sweating to death all day. Bonus!

3. Cheaper travel and accommodations.

A lot of travel accommodations have cheaper, off-peak rates.

Cheaper rates means it’ll be cheaper for your guests who have to travel, making it more likely they’ll be able to attend. Speaking of guests…

4. You’re not competing with a bunch of other weddings.

How many weddings do you go to during the average summer, and how many have you had to turn down because it conflicted with another wedding?

With a winter wedding there’s a much smaller chance of that happening, because not only will your vendors have more available dates, so will your guests.

You also won’t have to compete with other vacation and travel that people generally schedule during the summer months.

5. Comfort food.

You can serve your guests exactly what they want in the middle of winter: warm, delicious comfort food.

You won’t have to worry about getting a super fancy menu or what you’ll serve. Instead, pick a handful of your favorite comfort food items and let your guests indulge. They’ll thank you later ;)
